Today I Land

Today I land:
I’ll drag my suitcase on cobbled streets with rusty tramlines;
Tomorrow I shall raid your bookstores, condense your essence, eat your colours;
A month from now I’ll have forgotten the novelty of your caresses;
A year from now I will have left you, a rhotic ‘r’ my only dowry.
But now, I wait. My teeth are sharpened,
my suitcase full of expectation.
Today I land.
This is brilliant. Even if I read “caresses” as “carcasses” the first time…
