Today I Land

Today I land:

I’ll drag my suitcase on cobbled streets with rusty tramlines;

Tomorrow I shall raid your bookstores, condense your essence, eat your colours;

A month from now I’ll have forgotten the novelty of your caresses;

A year from now I will have left you, a rhotic ‘r’ my only dowry.

But now, I wait. My teeth are sharpened,
my suitcase full of expectation.

Today I land.
