In the centre of Berlin, just off one of the busiest streets full of fancy shops, offices and government buildings, you can have the most beautiful breakfast for about the same price as a ticket for the city transport. Even if it is a month after Easter, 8’C and raining. Ok, if you wanted coffee, you would pay double. The bright colours were enough for me!
As a bonus you can sit near the window watching out for your bike (bikes get nicked a lot here) and listen to swanky tourists mangling up quintessentially European food items whilst loudly enunciating their requests in English finishing with that unique insecure intonation northern-Americans always use when they want to come across as polite: “I would like a double espresso? With an extra shot of water on the side? And a drop of syrup? Do you take plastic?”
